I am so happy to guest blogging again on one of my favorite blogosphere stops.
Carpet to wood stairs.
With carpeted stairs you will never be able to adequately clean that angle where tread and riser meet.
The carpet was old and dirty giving the entry a very dark and dated feel.
By contrast wooden stairs can be cleaned with a whisk broom and dustpan.
The transition to the carpeted stairs was easy but important.
Stain and clear coat your stairs to give them long lasting appeal.
This is our stairs before.
Our main goal was to rip off the carpet see what wood was underneath and.
It was bad we decided to rip out the old carpet and see what we had to work with underneath.
Cleaning carpeting stairs.
So we got to work and this is our process on how to remodel stairs from carpet to wood.
Maybe we could refinish the stairs.
Cleaning carpeted stairs mean using a handheld vacuum and you will never be able to get them perfectly clean.
Use a foam brush to apply the stain and wipe with a lint free cloth.
The result was a clean transition from wood to carpet.
To avoid damage to the wood stairs they used a cat paw and hammer to gently remove the tack strips.
We did this project over a full weekend and two additional weeks nights following.
Jenna shows you how she did it here.
If there were existing hardwoods underneath the carpet sand them before re staining.
The stairs in our home were ancient and had a smell to them.
By stacy of the serene swede.
Cuz no one wants to step on those.
